His Excellency Counsellor Aguila Saleh Issa, President of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council and Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, and His Excellency First Vice President Saud Rashid Al-Hujailan, received congratulatory messages from the Speakers and representatives of a number of national and regional parliaments on the successful convening of the Second International Conference of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council, held in Benghazi, Libya, on 15–16 June 2026.
The congratulatory messages were received from the Egyptian House of Representatives, the Parliament of Liberia, the National Assembly of the Republic of the Congo, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the National Assembly of the Republic of Malawi, the Palestinian National Council, the National Assembly of the Republic of The Gambia, the Transitional National Legislative Assembly of the Republic of South Sudan, the Federal Parliament of Nepal, the Parliament of Madagascar, and the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The congratulating parliaments expressed their sincere congratulations to His Excellency Counsellor Aguila Saleh Issa and His Excellency Saud Rashid Al-Hujailan, wishing them every success in leading the Council’s work and strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the countries of Asia and Africa.
The Arab Parliament also welcomed the appointment of His Excellency Counsellor Aguila Saleh Issa as President of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council in its closing statement following the Third General Session of the Fourth Legislative Term, emphasizing the importance of supporting joint parliamentary action between the countries of the two continents.
