Asian-African Parliamentary Council
The Council shall pursue the following strategic objectives:
Article (1) – Strengthening Parliamentary Diplomacy
Developing frameworks for dialogue, consultation, and coordination among parliaments and consultative councils in Asia and Africa to enhance political rapprochement and serve the shared interests of the peoples of both continents.
Article (2) – Promoting Good Governance
Supporting the values of democracy, the rule of law, and separation of powers, and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of parliamentary work in line with international best practices.
Article (3) – Protecting and Promoting Human Rights
Committing to international human rights standards and safeguarding fundamental freedoms, with particular attention to the most vulnerable groups.
Article (4) – Supporting Legislative and Institutional Reform
Exchanging parliamentary expertise and experiences, and proposing initiatives that contribute to the development of national legislation and institutional stability.
Article (5) – Promoting Regional Peace and Security
Contributing to conflict prevention efforts, combating terrorism, extremism, and organized crime, and promoting a culture of dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
Article (6) – Addressing Common Challenges
Developing effective parliamentary cooperation mechanisms to confront natural disasters and humanitarian crises, and coordinating initiatives supporting relief and reconstruction efforts.
Article (7) – Combating Corruption and Promoting Integrity
Supporting legislative and oversight frameworks aimed at combating corruption and tax evasion, and reinforcing principles of transparency and accountability.
Article (8) – Advancing Sustainable Development
Contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals and enhancing cooperation in climate change, food security, energy, and innovation.
Article (9) – Institutional Capacity Building
Organizing training and research programs, and facilitating delegation exchanges to strengthen the capacities of parliamentarians and consultative council members and improve legislative and oversight performance.
Article (10) – Expanding International Partnerships
Establishing cooperative and coordination relationships with relevant regional and international organizations and unions to advance the Council’s objectives and institutional presence.
