The Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Counselor “Aguila Saleh,” accompanied by the Head of the Administrative Office of the House of Representatives, Mr. “Abdullah Al-Masri Al-Fadil,” met on Tuesday with the First Deputy Speaker of the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Council, Mr. “Saud Rashid Al-Hujalan ,” and the Council’s Secretary-General, Mr. “Fayez Al-Shawabkeh,” to discuss the arrangements and preparations for the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Conference scheduled to be held in Benghazi.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Speaker of the House welcomed the delegation and expressed his appreciation and gratitude for his nomination to the presidency of the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Council, as well as for selecting the city of Benghazi to host this international conference, emphasizing its significance with the participation of speakers and representatives of Asian and African parliaments.

Counselor “Aguila Saleh” also affirmed Benghazi’s readiness to host this major event, stating that all technical and logistical capabilities have been made available to ensure the success of the conference, particularly in light of the city’s security, stability, reconstruction, and development.

For their part, the First Deputy Speaker of the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Council, Mr. “Saud Rashid Al-Hujailan,” and the Secretary-General of the Council, Mr. “Fayez Al-Shawabkeh,” expressed their admiration for the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor “Aguila Saleh,” praising his national and Arab role.

They also extended their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Head of the Administrative Office of the House of Representatives, Mr. “Abdullah Al-Masri Al-Fadil,” for the warm hospitality and generous reception, commending his efforts as a national figure with extensive parliamentary experience, as well as the efforts of the accompanying staff from the House of Representatives’ Administrative Office.

The meeting discussed all details and arrangements related to Benghazi’s hosting of the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Conference, which is scheduled to take place in mid-June.

Participants also emphasized the importance of holding the conference in Benghazi following the city’s victory over terrorism, the restoration of safety and security, and the launch of reconstruction and development projects. They further highlighted the conference’s role in strengthening cooperation between African and Asian parliaments, consolidating parliamentary partnership, and expanding prospects for joint cooperation among member states.
