Saud Al-Hujailan, First Vice President of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for mutual cooperation with the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, on the sidelines of the 151st General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence and with the participation of Dr. Fayez Al-Shawabkeh, Secretary-General of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council, along with a number of officials from both sides.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States by its Secretary General, Mr. Mohamed Qureshi Nias. The agreement aims to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, promote coordination in international forums, and facilitate the exchange of experiences and best practices between the two entities.
As part of the agreement, both parties agreed to grant each other observer status within their respective councils, paving the way for broader coordination and fostering parliamentary integration between Asian, African, and OIC member states.
This step reflects the Asian-African Parliamentary Council’s commitment to expanding its international partnerships and enhancing multilateral parliamentary cooperation at the regional and global levels.
